Simon is highly respected within the field of addiction treatment and most renowned as the founder of The Cabin Addiction Services Group, The Edge, and Resort 12. Simon is regarded by many as the pioneer of the Asian rehab industry by not only transforming the rehab model, but by making recovery from addiction exponentially more affordable compared to the West.

Since leaving The Cabin Addiction Services Group, Simon has founded The Beach Rehab and brings with him his vast experience, professional connections, knowledge, and his genuine desire to help people suffering from addiction.

Brian Russman

Clinical Director

Brian has over fifteen years of direct clinical experience in mental and behavioral healthcare. He is a licensed psychotherapist, with areas of focus encompassing all forms of addiction and trauma therapies. This includes both chemical addictions, and process addictions, like sex or gambling. He also treats addictive relationships, codependency, love, intimacy, and attachment related issues. Brian works specifically with partner betrayal and familial traumas, and always strives to engage and treat the entire “family system” as a whole.

In addition Brian is proficient in the treatment of all mental health issues including severe mental illness, character and personality disturbances, and maladaptive behavioral patterns.

Brian has developed and implemented the programs and curriculum for several major treatment centers and agencies globally. He has been well sought after as an expert in the areas of family systems, cyber and sex addiction(s), and he is often asked to facilitate lectures, trainings, and participates in news interviews world wide.

Brian’s education includes a bachelors degree in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University and a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from Barry University. He is a Licensed Psychotherapist in the State of Florida LCSW (license # SW 12366), and holds several post-graduate certifications as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (trained under Dr. Patrick Carnes’ CSAT model), a Certified Addiction Professional; and an EMDR Level II Certified Practitioner.

Brian is passionate about addiction treatment and recovery and committed to providing long-term support and comprehensive treatment plans that provide both the client and their families with the best possible outcomes and a true opportunity for lifelong recovery.

Brett Thornton

Clinical Coordinator

Originally from the UK, Brett is a graduate of the University of Hull with further professional studies in Addiction Counseling through the Institute of Counselling in Glasgow, along with Diplomas in Hypnotherapy and Counseling through the British Hypnosis Research and Training Institute.

Brett has worked at The Cabin Chiang Mai as an Addictions Counselor, Relapse Prevention and Post treatment Aftercare Coordinator, and was actively involved in the Family Program.

Most recently, Brett has been acting as a consultant, providing addiction support for families and facilitating addiction interventions. Brett brings with him a wealth of experience both professional and personal as Brett has been in recovery since 2011 with almost 8 years of continuous sobriety.

Brett continues to attend regular 12-Step meetings and in his spare time Brett has been learning Thai Language over the past 5 years. Among local Thais he is known as Yim (meaning ‘smile’).

Alexandra Perkinson Therapist

Alexandra Perkinson is a Master’s Level Therapist with over six years of clinical experience in the field of addictions.

Alex attained her Master’s Degree in Creative Arts Therapy in 2013. While working at The Cabin Chiang Mai, she received additional specialized training in trauma and body-oriented psychotherapy. She is a Level I Certified EMDR practitioner, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and has completed TRE (Trauma Release Exercises) Modules I and II. Alex also recently completed a two-month residency at Ai Pono Hawaii under the supervision of Dr. Anita Johnston where she received intensive training in eating disorder treatment.

Alex’s therapeutic approach effectively balances the creative and pragmatic. She is passionate about empowering individuals to search out, connect with, and live in alignment with their core values and believes that long-term recovery is only possible when an individual commits their full selves to the recovery process. Therefore, all effective addiction treatment must be holistic in nature.

Originally from Birmingham UK, Dylan is an integrative counselor for addiction. He has been working in the field of addiction for over 10 years for a number of projects in the UK and internationally. Dylan is a registered Substance Abuse Therapist in Singapore and member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP).

Dylan was previously the Head Counselor for an innovative private rehab in Thailand. As well as working with a dynamic international community, Dylan also received commendation from the Thai Government in his role for training Thai drug and alcohol agencies.

Dylan was also recently counselor to the band ‘The Libertines’ and joined them on their world tour.

Worapong Mingma, MD (Doctor of Medicine)


Dr Worapong is The Beach’s medical doctor. His academic studies include a Bachelor Degree of Science in Pharmacy from Mahidol University, Thailand and Doctor of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.

Over the last 15 years Dr Worapong has worked at various hospitals and currently has roles that includes Clinic Manager at his own medical practice along with private consultancy work.

With many years experience and a solid understanding in medical detox, Dr Worapong is an integral part of the team.

Jez is a member of The British Psychological Society (BPS) with a BSc Degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counseling.

Originally from Windsor, UK, Jez has over a decade of experience teaching and counselling young adults and their families in schools throughout Europe and Asia.

Jez is passionate about supporting personal development, utilizing person-centered and CBT approaches to help facilitate cognitive and emotional growth.

He is also a strong believer in the healing power of exercise and leads by example, encouraging clients to pursue a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Josh is extremely committed to enhancing his professional development within the addictions field.

Josh originally began his career in the addictions field in a support staff role, but soon progressed to Assistant Group Facilitator within our Recovery Planning and Relapse Prevention Program.

Josh is currently pursuing his certification as an Addictions Professional and is passionate about helping others. He is in recovery himself and actively works a 12-Step Program. His positive attitude and enthusiasm about maintaining sobriety make him a trusted mentor to our clients.

Prom is an experienced and qualified Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. He specializes in tennis coaching, trekking, Muay Thai boxing, and cycling. He has experience as a trainer and supervisor for some of the most prestigious hotels including the Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Dara Dhevi, and Tao Garden Resort.

Prom is also the founder of the Metal Gym and Fitness in Chiang Mai. He has a deep love for all things health and fitness and enjoys sharing his knowledge with international clients.

Cameron is a Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. He has practiced with people suffering addictions since 2006 and is an advocate for those who are most vulnerable in society.

Cameron has worked in private and NGO rehabilitation facilities in Australia and overseas, and he currently runs a private practice on the Gold Coast of Australia.

We are thrilled to partner with Cameron in order to be able to provide thorough long-term treatment options for clients returning to Australia.

Carlos ‘Dindo’ Ayuyao

Interventionist and Asia aftercare

Dindo is one of the pioneers of addiction treatment in Asia, having been in the field since 1991. He is a graduate in Addiction Studies from John F Kennedy University as well as receiving qualifications in outpatient care from the Matrix Institute of Addiction in California.

Since then, he has founded some of the leading addiction treatment facilities in Asia as well as assisting hundreds of clients through intervention and coaching to enter treatment and remain sober.

Dindo works with some of the most reputable centers in the world including Hazelden Betty Ford, Promises and Alta Mira and we are delighted to partner with him at The Beach Rehab Thailand.
